i think a lot of companies still test on animals because people think a product's testing is not scientifically viable if it hasn't been tested on animals. so often it's often more about people's perceptions than an actual need to test on animals. there is also a lot of wastage - if "scientists" shared their research with others, and studied previous tests and results, then a lot of needless animal testing could be avoided.

as bad as it sounds, companies would not test on animals if it were not necessary. with the new formulae they are constantly coming up with it needs to be thoroughly tested on living organisms before tested on humans because it can do real damage sometimes. and although it is possible, with great caution to not test on animals (like on here) for large companies it is just too hard and costly. and after all, there is not much to do but accept it, as most daily things are tested on animals at some point in time.

it's surprising how many companies test on animals, or even if a particular brand claims not to test on animals, their parent company does so it's hard to say if they really are a cruelty free brand. bellaboo doesn't test on animals which just makes it even more fab!
